Why Membership? 

Through Jesus, we are now members of one body and called to be both discipled and disciple-makers. Membership in Westside will begin a process of ongoing discipleship and spiritual growth. Take the Membership Class (linked below) to find out more.

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:8-10

What is Membership? 

Membership in Westside is not simply a change in status. It begins a process of discipleship in this local church community that is intended to produce deep, meaningful, and lasting change as God changes us.

Membership also confirms you as a member of the society of Westside Church Vancouver, which is a legal status with attached bylaws and regulations. Membership empowers you to participate in decisions related to church governance, attend the Annual General Meetings, and vote on important changes (e.g. elder confirmation). 

“The Membership Class” is the first step to understand what membership is all about. It clarifies Westside’s mission, vision, and values as a church, which are biblical expressions that frame the Members Covenant. Members sign the covenant intending for all of us to live out these biblical expressions together as family.

Who is Membership For?

Any follower of Jesus who wants to move from attending to covenanting with the Members and Elders of Westside Church.

“...But God has so composed the body, giving greater honour to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honoured, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it."
1 Corinthians 12:24-27

Steps to Become a Member:

  1. Complete the Membership Class.
    In this course, we’ll unpack our mission, vision, and values.
  2. Complete the membership application form.
    A link to the form will be sent to you after you complete the Membership Class. *If you completed the course and lost it, please email office@wchurch.ca for support.
  3. Complete the membership application review.
    We will review your application and set a time to answer questions, encourage and pray for one another.
  4. Receive your membership confirmation letter.
    You will receive a confirmation letter by mail that is signed by an Elder, confirming your membership status. This is not the end, but the beginning of a journey lived together!
  5. Participate in ongoing formation and life in the Westside Community.
    It will be exciting to welcome you to the Westside family! You will receive a welcome email with next steps and support options as we begin the process of discipleship together.

What is Members' Support?

A support system that helps members engage in ongoing discipleship through the existing ministries and people of Westside. Members will be loved, encouraged, equipped, and held accountable in their journey to Christlikeness, and do the same for others as they use their spiritual gifts for the good of the body.
