Week 12: Joshua November 30, 2014

Story

Our 12 Week Story

As we set out to examine the theme of story over these twelve weeks, we’ll be zooming in on twelve well-known Old Testament characters. In these real life, historical stories, we will see the way God takes lives filled with small successes and great failures and, as a master craftsman, turns them into a grand masterpiece of divine origin.

We will also see that all of our stories and all the stories that make up our city are no less a part of God’s story than any other. Throughout this series we’ll examine our own stories and look for God’s redemptive thread being pulled through each of them. We’ll hear individual testimonies on Sundays as we gather, and we’ll share our own stories in our Community Groups.

We’ll make much of our stories–not because in them we see our own greatness, but because in them we see the greatness and glory of a God who makes beautiful things out of mere dust.

Study Guide / POST sunday content

We strongly encourage everyone to pick up a Story Study Guide at the Connect Centre on Sunday. This resource has all the Post Sunday Content questions for the entire series, that you will be discussing every week in your Community Groups. It also includes the following things:

  • Character introductions for each week
  • Daily Bible reading plan given ahead of each Sunday’s sermon applicable to each story
  • A section for sermon notes
  • Post Sunday Content questions to help guide your Community Group discussions
  • Space for Community Group Leaders to write some of their own questions
  • Family Discussion questions to help parents talk through the stories with their children

The booklets have a suggested donation of $2.00, but if you can't afford to donate, please go ahead and take one regardless. This is an important resource for the fall and we would love for everyone to have one. We are asking for a donation just help to offset the cost of producing the booklet.
