Knowing God_Series

“We exist to know Jesus and to make Jesus known.” This is more than just a slogan on our posters – knowing God is the meaning and fullness of life. It’s why we’re alive. Knowing Him is how He satisfies us with abundant life in Jesus. But knowing God isn't just a matter of truth or relational encounter – it’s both, held together. In this series we’ll explore the character and nature of God, along with spiritual practices designed to create space to encounter Him personally. It’s an invitation to all who are thirsty: come and drink.

So when it comes to the practice of Sabbath, it’s no surprise that this is exactly what God has always intended it to be. Sabbath as Resistance

What if all of it is moving us farther away from God than we think? Thankfully, in embracing a Sabbath rhythm, we find an invitation to resist what the world would have us become, and are able to step into the life God has for us.

Sabbath as Worship

- Exodus 20:8-11;

Deuteronomy 5:12-15

Nathan Harrison / October 2, 2022

For human beings, called to bear God’s image, the sabbath is a repeated opportunity to reflect that image in our own pattern of work and rest. This gets to the heart of the sabbath as worshipful rather than simply useful—no matter how beneficial it may be. The issue at the core of the Sabbath is What (or who) is worthy of our praise? The answer that the Sabbath always proclaims is, the God of creation and redemption.
